Gumusluk is far from the maddening crowds found in some of the larger more commercialised resorts. Set in the far west of the peninsula half way between the resorts of Yalikavak and Turgutreis, you will find little here apart from peace, tranquility and spectacular scenery. Some of the best fish restaurants of the peninsula are to be found in the near by Gumusluk beach area also affectionately known as 'Rabbit Island' which was home to the ancient Myndos people where the ruins of the city of Myndos can still be seen submerged off shore. The excitement of Bodrum with its huge selection of shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife is only 22km away which is easily accessible by the regular and incredibly cheap dolmus system (shared minibus service) or a short car journey. Closer at hand is the small resort of Yalikavak only 10 minutes drive away, where a selection of bars, restaurants, banks and shops can be found. Further afield you will find a plethora of ancient history, Ephesus, Pumakale and the ancient Roman city of Iasos to mention a few. The easiest way to visit these are on organised excursions that can be booked in resort. |
